Merit Scholarships
Merit scholarships are your best opportunity for scholarship money. These scholarships are awarded by many colleges based on your academic, athletic, or artistic talents. These scholarships come from the college to which you are applying, and they may or may not require you to fill out a scholarship application form. Ask an admissions counselor or financial aid officer at the college about available scholarships, and ask early. Many colleges have priority deadlines for applications if you want to be considered for merit scholarships. For your reference, this deadline is November 1 for many colleges in Indiana.
To find scholarships available to you through your college of choice, we suggest you look at the college's financial aid website. There you will find more information about the scholarships available, how to apply, and what deadlines you must meet. If you cannot find information on their website, call or email the financial aid office.
Another resource you can check is:
Naviance - Students can login into Naviance and go to the scholarship search.
MeritAid - This website provides listings of merit scholarships offered by colleges nationwide. You can search by college name, or you can create an account (for free) and tell them about yourself, and they will match you with potential scholarships.
